Welcyon, Fitness After 50, Introduces Healthy Eating Program

EDINA, Minn. – Underscoring that it takes a combination of regular exercise and sensible eating to achieve optimal health, Welcyon, Fitness After 50, recently launched a new Healthy Eating Program that pairs every member with a Registered Dietitian (RD) for nutritional counseling as part of its standard membership.

Welcyon is combining the service with customized exercise plans guided by specially trained fitness coaches to provide adults over 50 with a level of personalized supervision that is uncommon in the health club industry.

“Our strategy is to offer adults over 50 a well-rounded, quality experience that is tailored and effective,” said Welcyon co-founder and CEO Suzy Boerboom. “Including one-on-one nutrition counseling as part of the standard membership differentiates our brand and gives our franchisees a distinct advantage within our niche market.”

The Healthy Eating program is offered through a partnership with Enthrive Inc., a leading provider of remote nutrition and weight management counseling. Through its North American network of 200 registered dietitians, Enthrive has facilitated more than 22,000 coaching sessions since 2011 and has an established record of success supporting workplace, health insurer and health club wellness programs across Canada. Welcyon is the first U.S. fitness concept to partner with Enthrive.

Using Enthrive’s services, Welcyon members are able to work one-on-one with specially matched Registered Dietitians to address specific health concerns and goals. The RDs create personalized meal plans and provide education and counseling on lifestyle and dietary issues. Members are able to engage conveniently from their homes via telephone or online video conferencing, and have the ability to access a private website to download recommended recipes, educational materials and communicate with their RDs.

The program is designed to support:

“The program is making a noticeable impact on two levels. First, it is benefitting franchisees like me by being a turnkey coaching solution that is unique to our industry. Secondly, it’s making a difference in the lives of our members. They’re healthier, losing weight and managing chronic conditions like diabetes and heart disease with more confidence because of this professional support,” said Heather Teigen, owner of the Welcyon club in Fargo, North Dakota.
