How Welcyon Helps
How you can manage - or even beat - diabetes
The good news is that you can manage, or entirely eliminate diabetes through a conscientious program of exercise and nutrition. By making a few simple changes, you’ll reap a lifetime of improved fitness and health.
Types 1 & 2: What Can Exercise Do?
Regardless of the type of diabetes someone has, regular physical activity is important for maintaining overall health and wellness. Exercise helps reduce blood glucose levels, and improves your body’s ability to burn blood sugar and use insulin. Plus, it can reduce blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and increase heart and lung performance. In addition, it can lead to weight loss, which can help prevent Type 2 diabetes.
According to the American Diabetes Association, two types of physical activity are most important for managing diabetes: aerobic exercise and strength training – the two pillars of the Welcyon workout program.
With the Welcyon approach to fitness, you’ll always have access to the expert advice and insight of our specially trained coaches. Incorporating any exercise modifications or restrictions recommended by your doctor or therapist, your coach will develop an individualized program designed to deliver fast results for fitness and good health.
Nutrition – Eating Your Way to Better Health
Good nutrition is the second line of defense against diabetes. After you join, Welcyon sets you up for success by pairing you with a registered dietitian (RD). During one-on-one, private phone consultations, you’ll develop a meal plan designed to optimize the benefits of all that hard work at the gym. Packed with deliciously healthful ingredients, our meals score five-star reviews from the most discriminating foodies.
If you need to make modifications to your plan or just want a little advice for navigating holiday feasts, your RD is always available via email. Best of all, these nutritional coaching and meal planning services are provided to all Welcyon members—at no extra charge.
