Ginny Petersen Named Manager of Welcyon Bloomington

Ginny Petersen: On a Mission for Fitness, Fun and Health

Ginny Petersen, a member of the Welcyon coaching staff, will begin managing the Bloomington club on February 1. A certified personal trainer, she has years of experience helping people achieve their health and fitness goals. With her background in management, Ginny will support Welcyon’s coaching team and give them the tools they need to help all our members succeed.

“Welcyon is a community and you can feel the difference as soon as you walk in the door,” says Ginny. “This is really where my heart is. I am very excited to build on a great foundation, and expand the presence of our club in Bloomington.”

As passionate as she is about fitness and health, Ginny was not a life-long athlete, and played no sports while growing up in Bloomington and attending Kennedy High School or University of Minnesota.

“It wasn’t until I was in my mid-30s,” Ginny recalled. “I was a stay-at-home Mom with three kids, and didn’t know many people. I needed some kind of social life,” she laughed. “So I started playing tennis and joined a running group.”

Soon, she was competing in 10K races like the Bonne Bell in Minneapolis and other events. Eventually, her recreation led to a career as a personal trainer at Northwest Sports Athletic Club in Bloomington. After a few years, she was managing a staff of trainers.

Now, in her role as manager of the Bloomington club, Ginny says she will draw on a deep well of experiences to make a great club even better.

“Right now, Welcyon is the best kept secret in Bloomington,” Ginny observed. “My job is to let the secret out! I see this as a great opportunity to reach many more people who can greatly benefit from Welcyon’s approach to fitness.”

In a nation where 100 million Americans are 50 or over, and a person turns 50 every seven seconds, her mission to get more people on the path to fitness is timely and important.

“Exercise truly turns back the clock—both external and internal,” Ginny said. “We have the equipment and the support to help you reshape your body and your life. This is a place where you can learn to get healthy in a safe environment. It’s about coaches who continually motivate you. It’s about nutritionists who teach you how to eat smarter and better. It’s about members who take very good care of each other. Welcyon is a real community. You won’t find that anywhere else. That’s what so special about it, and that’s why I’m so excited to be a part of it.”
